The Liver Team at Crumlin

  • The head of the GI and Liver Unit is Prof Billy Bourke.

  • Annmarie Broderick, Emer FitzPatrick, and Seamus Hussey are Consultants in the department.

  • Laura Feeney and Amy Power are the clinical liver nurses.

Liver Nurses

Your liver nurse is your point of contact and the person you will deal with most often.

Currently they operate an answering machine system. When you phone leave a message on the machine and they will get back to you.

USING THE HOSPITAL

Bloods: Should your child need bloods done always try to go when Phlebotomy is open, which is 8.30am - 4pm Monday to Friday. You can ask the clinical nurse for the forms.

A&E: If you need to go to A&E, phone the switchboard beforehand (01 4096100) and ask for the Gi and Liver team. When you arrive, phone again to say that you are there. This should speed up the process.

Staying in Hospital: Should you have to stay in hospital there are 4 rooms in St Josephs ward for liver patients. This ward has a play rooms and parents rooms. Play therapists visit the wards and play rooms. 

RESTAURANTS

The canteen is open to all. It has hot meals and is cheaper than the coffee shops. There are 2 coffee shops which serve a wide range of sandwiches and snacks. They are expensive but a nice change from the hospital feel of the canteen.

Canteen: Monday – Friday 08:00hrs to 14:00hrs. Closed weekends and bank holidays.

Jelly Bean: Monday - Friday 7am - 6pm.

Coffee Bean: Monday to Friday 8am - 11pm. Saturday 8am - 9pm. Sunday 8am - 8pm. 

MAIN RECEPTION DESK

The Main Reception Desk welcomes all patients, families and visitors to the hospital and gives advice/directions in relation to facilities within the hospital.  All general post/couriers in and out of the hospital are managed through the Main Reception Desk. Please ask the Receptionist for further details if you are expecting a delivery/registered post.  All post is delivered to wards on a daily basis.

CHILDREN IN HOSPITAL IRELAND

Volunteers from the organisation Children in Hospital Ireland are on hand to help you on your arrival and to entertain and reassure your child and allow you to take some time for a coffee, shower or a short nap. All volunteers are vetted and trained, and have a genuine passion for their work. They offer a high quality service and you can be assured they will do their best to help you and your child. Learn more about the Play Service. They work in the playrooms in the hospital, and are sometimes seen around the hospital with carts with colouring supplies for outpatients.

TAXIS

There is taxi rank outside the hospital on the Crumlin Road.  You can order a taxi via the RED freephone taxi line located at the Hospital Main Reception.

SHOP

The hospital shop is on the ground floor adjacent to the main entrance of the hospital. It supplies snacks, drinks, books, newspapers, magazines, cards, gifts, toiletries, stamps.

Opening Times:

  • Monday - Friday 8.30am - 8pm

  • Saturday-Sunday 10.30am - 7pm

  • Bank Holidays 10am - 2pm

The Ashleaf Shopping Centre in Crumlin Village is a 15 minute walk from the hospital.

PHARMACY

Haven Pharmacy is a pharmacy adjacent to the hospital on Errigal Road. Medical Card prescriptions are available at this pharmacy.  This is an independent community pharmacy and is not managed by the hospital.

INTERNET ACCESS

Complimentary Wifi is available to patients and parents/guardians which is supplied by Eir.  All parents/guardians/patients must agree to terms and conditions before logging on to the wifi.

There are internet surf boxes with printers available in the common area adjacent to the Fish Tank on the ground floor.  Charges apply. 


ATM/CASH MACHINE

There is an ATM machine located opposite the coffee shop in the Main Out Patients Department.

POSTbox

There is an external post box located at Main Reception Desk. Stamps can be purchased in the Hospital Shop.

CITIZENS ADVICE BUREAU

The Citizen Advice Bureau provides information on public services and entitlements in Ireland. It is provided by the Citizens Information Board and is located outside the Hospital Canteen.

  • Opening Hours: Tuesday 0930hrs–1330hrs and Thursday 0930-1330hrs

SMOKING

Since November 2014, Our Lady's Children's Hospital, Crumlin is a no smoking campus.  Smoking is not permitted anywhere on the hospital grounds. If you wish to smoke, please do so, outside the blue perimeter line you see painted to indicate the edge of hospital grounds.

CHAPEL

Mass is celebrated in the Hospital Chapel located on the ground floor.  Check Chapel Notice Board for mass times.  The Chapel is open all day for parents/guardians.  To view the Book of Remembrance please contact the Chaplain or Site Manager on duty.

SECURITY

The Security Office is located at the Main Entrance of the hospital.  All lost property should be given to the Security Officer on duty.  All patients/families are responsible for their property when on the hospital site.
